The latest Far Cry instalment that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for embracing chaos and insanity with equal enthusiasm, all while presenting engaging, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that FX's new order for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two visionaries whose creations have embodied all of those elements.
Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game series, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' style by having a fresh backdrop and group of personalities in each season.
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we do not know what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX team always encourages me with their ongoing trust and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Every instalment is a variation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can evolve from year to year, while always exploring the core of humanity through this multifaceted and turbulent viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and introduce our shared unconventional, ambitious approach to the screen.”
A release window for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
