Health authorities have reported that one baby has passed away from hypothermia and a minimum of 11 other people have died in roof cave-ins triggered by the severe weather.
Other reports put a higher death toll. Officials stated that multiple residential buildings had fully given way and dozens had collapsed partially.
Groups have stepped up distribution of tents, blankets and clothes following the halt in hostilities began, but they stress there is continues to be not enough aid reaching those in need.
"Officials are striving constantly to bring in that assistance and to hand it out, but the size of the requirements is so immense that we are faced with a great number of individuals and children who are really enduring hardship each evening," cautioned one spokesperson.
