The offspring of former South African President Jacob G Zuma has denied all charges to terror-linked accusations at the commencement of her trial in the port city of Durban city.
The defendant, 43 years old, is being tried over remarks she posted on online platforms several years back during fatal unrest in South Africa that occurred subsequent to the arrest of her dad.
A period of anarchy in various areas of the country in the summer of 2021, including plundering and arson, resulted in at least 300 dead and caused damage worth an projected 2.8 billion dollars (2.2 billion pounds).
She has been alleged of inciting this violence and is charged with accusations of provocation to commit terror acts and public disorder.
The demonstrations were centered in the regions of Gauteng and KZN and came after the previous president's arrest for ignoring a court order to give evidence at an probe into allegations of corruption while he was in power.
Ms Zuma-Sambudla has always denied the charges against her, with her attorney earlier labelling the state's evidence as unsubstantiated.
She has also repeatedly said the accusations against her were an attempt to resolve political scores with her father after he started his own party and competed against the ANC.
This was echoed by the foundation, which said the legal matter was an "misuse of authority" and a "organized effort" of "politically motivated and familial targeting" against the former president and his family.
A handful of followers from her party, uMkhonto weSizwe, appeared outside the judicial building, while her dad and other group representatives were present at the hearings inside.
Her legal team has argued that the evidence presented by prosecutors is inadequate and lacks substantial proof for a guilty verdict.
The court case continues as all parties present their arguments before the judicial authority in what is projected to be a highly monitored court case with significant political ramifications for South Africa.
