She reiterated this viewpoint at an IMF gathering in Washington, observing that the national efficiency issue has been compounded by the manner in which the UK left the European Union.

This represented a carefully worded declaration, attributing harm not to Brexit itself but to its execution; blaming the politicians who negotiated it, not the public who supported it. This differentiation is essential when the budget is presented next month. The goal is to assign some fiscal difficulties to the deal negotiated by Boris Johnson without seeming to disrespect the hopes of leave voters.

Challenger Attacks and Administrative Challenges

The aim is to link the Reform leader to a well-known example of deceptive campaigning, implying he cannot be trusted; that he exploits discontent and sows division but lacks governing competence.

Recent suspensions of four Kent councillors from the party's administrative wing supports that narrative. Recorded videos of a video conference showed internal squabbling and recrimination, demonstrating the challenges inexperienced figures face when providing community resources on limited budgets—much harder than distributing leaflets about reducing inefficiency or managing borders.
